Brand Names

  • Legend Injectable Solution
  • Legend Multi Dose Injectable Solution

Description

According to BayerDVM, Legend is the only FDA-approved intravenous and intra-articular therapy available to treat non-infectious synovitis associated with osteoarthritis in horses. Legend is pure hyaluronate sodium, which is the glycosaminoglycan present in normal joint fluid. It is produced by a patented biofermentation process that results in such purity that it can be given intravenously for immediate bioavailability.

Usage

Legend - Hyaluronate sodium is used in the healing of degenerative joint disease. One major function is the regulation of normal cell constituents that decrease the impact of exudation, enzyme release, and subsequent degradation of joint integrity. Injected directly into the joint pouch, it enhances the healing of the inflamed synovium by restoring lubrication of the joint fluid. It also exerts an anti-inflammatory action.
