A horse shelter near Oroville, California, Horse Plus Humane Society, is assisting the Lassen County Animal Control in the surrender of about 20 mostly untrained horses and mules who are in desperate need of help.
On Thursday, April 14, they will be using multiple trailers to pick up the horses and mules.
The horses were part of a huge Animal Control case several years ago. After approximately 10 horses were impounded, the owners hid a number of their equines, but now they are in need of rescuing since they have been abused and neglected for quite some time.
Among the equines being rescued are several stallions, pregnant mares, and mules, many in obvious need of veterinarian medical care. The organization is asking for donations to help with the expenses of caring for the horses and mules.
