A case involving hundreds of horses and some cattle in Greenbrier County is up in the air with the recent death of the owner of the animals. Grady Whitlock, who died last week, faced dozens of criminal charges in connection with allegedly starving to death 39 horses and leaving over 200 others without feed, water and proper care..

The criminal case filed against Whitlock will end because of his death. Currently he horses are being cared for by the Greenbrier County Sheriff's office and the County Humane Officer and volunteers.  What happens with the horses will depend on the person handling the Whitlock estate.

The county prosecutor says he doesn't anticipate having to wait to resolve the case until the entire estate is settled.
