The excitement of horse reining competitions

It’s easy for us to envision the Arabian horse coming more to the forefront in the next few years as a very competitive Western-type performance horse in both Reining and Ranch Riding as will be evident in the 2016 High Roller Reining Classic, September 9th through 17th.

The fledgling National Arabian Reining Horse Association that took over the ARBC last spring will make its first official appearance at the 2016 High Roller Reining Classic, September 9th through 17th, at the South Point Equestrian Center, Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas’ premiere horse event center.

For the new company, the first order of business at the HRRC show involves the much anticipated Youth Tournament competition on the first Saturday and Sunday mornings. The wildly successful tournament attracted 17 teams and 60 riders at last year’s High Roller Reining Classic, including almost 20 in the 10 & Under Short Stirrup.

The competition features four-rider teams of different age Youth, as well as Arabian/Half-Arabian Youth riders. The kids compete for Olympic Style medals, University Scholarship money and then, enjoy a big pizza party with all the trimmings. Winning Gold Team Champions will receive $500 each and the top three individual riders in the overall competition will receive: Gold $1,000, Silver $750 and Bronze $500.

“We’ve been involved with Arabian Reining horses in conjunction with the High Roller Reining Classic since 2014,” says Frank Constantini, a Markel Horse Specialist since 1995. “It’s only natural for us to continue with this program now that it has taken the form of the NARHA.

It’s easy for us to envision the Arabian horse coming more to the forefront in the next few years as a very competitive Western-type performance horse in both Reining and Ranch Riding. They are a beautiful, tough and versatile horse.

We at Markel Insurance especially appreciate Amanda Brumley and Brumley Management Group’s passion for the entire horse industry, an enthusiastic, inclusive approach that always makes the extra effort to encourage all types of horses and all levels of riders at their shows.”

“The High Roller Reining Classic is a favorite show for Markel Insurance,” Frank adds. “It’s always been an excellent opportunity for us to come to a wonderful event in a great facility like the South Point in Las Vegas.

This show draws a large, outstanding group of competitive exhibitors and horses from Texas, California, Arizona and all across the United States. South Point has wonderful amenities, and September is such a nice time of the year to visit this part of the country. Brumley Management Group and South Point have worked together and done a great job of expanding the facility and the show.”

The ARBC, now entitled the NARHA, has paid out over $250,000 in prize money at premier NRHA events since its inception in 2014. Owners of NARHA Enrolled Incentive Program horses must be members of the NARHA as of 2017, see membership information at www.NationalArabianReiningHorseAssociation.com. For additional information on the NARHA or the upcoming High Roller Reining Classic, contact Amanda Brumley, brumleymanagementgroup@gmail.com or call (602) 677-3774.

In addition to being a premier source of Equine Insurance, Markel Insurance Company also provides insurance for farms, ranches, cattle, liability and a great deal more.
