    compete in performance events.  Can you recommend a program for getting my horse in shape?

    Depending on the particular event, there are different types of conditioning exercises that may be beneficial.

    Events that require explosive speed (reigning, roping) require a program that includes anaerobic conditioning. Events that require endurance (competitive trail riding, three-day eventing) are better served by a program that focuses on aerobic condition.

    My older horse doesn't get much exercise.  Should I be concerned?

    Adequate exercise is the foundation of a mentally and physically sound horse.  This area features many articles that can help you understand the need for exercise, and what you can do to maintain a sound and happy horse.
