It's one of the shortest and most coveted lists of the season and this year, the third annual EQUUS Film Festival NYC has been named by EQ Inner Circle to its 'Seven Best Equestrian Events for Summer and Fall 2015.' The Inner Circle is produced by the award-winning Equestrian Quarterly (EQ) magazine to take readers inside its recent stories and preview fashion, art, events and all the best of country life.

Renowned as the “home to the storytellers of the horse world,” EQUUS Film Festival comes to New York City November 20-21, for two days of exceptional films, documentaries and videos leading to Saturday night's equestrian equivalent of the Oscar.

Renowned as the “home to the storytellers of the horse world,” EQUUS Film Festival comes to New York City's Greenwich Village, November 20-21, for two days of exceptional films, documentaries and videos at the Village East Cinema (home to the Tribeca Film Festival) leading to Saturday night's equestrian equivalent of the Oscars: the 2015 Winnie Awards for production and directorial excellence.

EQUUS Film Festival NYC is the first event of its kind dedicated to equestrian-themed film, fine art and authors, and includes:

  • Daily EQUUS Magazine Directors Panels, the Li'l Herc Kids Fest sponsored by Suzanne Kopp-Moskow
  • A lineup of free Saturday morning family films, fun and games; a pop-up fine art and literary gallery at the Ukrainian Village East Hall;
  • Thursday evening VIP Party hosted by Manhattan Saddlery for mixing and mingling with artists, writers, directors and guest panelists;
  • Sunday special tours of the Central Park Carriage Horse Stables and holiday shopping hours at Manhattan Saddlery.

Doors open at noon Friday for films and the first of daily EQUUS Magazine Directors Panels each afternoon and evening in the Village East Cinema Screening Room.

Directors and panelists will include Ron Davis, Sundance Channel award-winning director/producer of Harry & Snowman, chronicling the legendary lives of two American show jumping champions; the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) Equine Protection investigator from its undercover film on the soring of Tennessee Walking Horses; and Allan J. Hamilton, MD, medical script consultant for the hit TV series, Grey’s Anatomy, known as the Harvard-trained 'brain surgeon who listens to horses' and author of the Gold Nautilus Award-winning Zen Mind, Zen Horse.

Filmgoers will also meet five international artists selected by people's choice in the EQUUS Film Festival Facebook Contest, including Official Festival Poster artist Tony O Connor of Ireland, painter of Jaspar; Official Show Program artist, Shannon Ford of Canada, creator of First Ritmo AJ; Official T-Shirt artist, Marion Tubiana of France, creator of Renatus; and wild horse photographer Kelly Jay of Utah, whose image, Proud to Be Free is the Official Wild Horse Fund Raiser Poster, with all proceeds raised from its sale going to the American Wild Horse Preservation Campaign.
