Mouse Hole Farm Productions, Durham, Connecticut, announces that their Advanced Equine Studies DVD, The Horseâs Respiratory System, received the "Best Educational Program of 2015" award at the EQUUS Film Festival. Advanced Equine Studies producer Andrea Steele says, âWe are so honored to have this recognition from EQUUS.â
The Horseâs Respiratory System program follows a horse through Tufts Universityâs Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine lung-function laboratory where Dr. Melissa Mazan demonstrates how respiratory dysfunction is diagnosed and treated.
The EQUUS Film Festival highlights, acknowledges, and awards the diverse and creative efforts of those who artistically pay homage to the horse. It is the worldâs premier showcase for domestic and international feature films, documentaries and shorts, in which the horse is center stage.
Advanced Equine Studies creates artful and in-depth DVD learning experiences for equestrians and equine caregivers worldwide. The programs are designed for all riders and caregivers and ideal for schools with equine degree programs and youth organizations. The Future Farmers of America has designated The Horseâs Respiratory System DVD an excellent source of educational material for their members.
Advanced Equine Studies makes college-level content available and convenient for anyone, at anywhere, at anytime. Steele says, âWe make learning about the horse at an advanced level fun to watch. Instead of viewing a TV rerun, you can view our DVD and become a more knowledgeable horse person.â
She continues, âThis is not sound-bite education. Our respiratory system DVD has a runtime of 5½ hours, even the most experienced rider will come away with new and current information. We provide a platform for top professionals from across the equine industry to reach a broad spectrum of people.â
The Horseâs Respiratory System program follows a horse through Tufts Universityâs Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine lung-function laboratory where Dr. Melissa Mazan demonstrates how respiratory dysfunction is diagnosed and treated.
She talks about respiratory anatomy, lung function, infectious and non-infectious respiratory disease, and other related topics such as parasites that affect the lungs.
The DVD also features architect John Blackburn who explains how he creates a healthy respiratory environment in his premier barns and arenas and nutrition expert Karen Briggs who discusses feeding for respiratory health. The program equates all this information to better performance in the saddle.
Advanced Equine Studies DVDs are scheduled to cover all the horseâs bodily systems as well as other topics of interest. The next DVD in the series is Saddle Fit for Horse and Rider, Including the Skeletal-Muscular Anatomy of the Back, Medical Problems, and Therapies, which is scheduled for release in March 2016.
