Mouse Hole Farm Productions, Durham, Connecticut, announces that their Advanced Equine Studies DVD, The Horse’s Respiratory System, received the "Best Educational Program of 2015" award at the EQUUS Film Festival.  Advanced Equine Studies producer Andrea Steele says, “We are so honored to have this recognition from EQUUS.”

Educating horse enthusiasts about better horse care

The Horse’s Respiratory System program follows a horse through Tufts University’s Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine lung-function laboratory where Dr. Melissa Mazan demonstrates how respiratory dysfunction is diagnosed and treated.

The EQUUS Film Festival highlights, acknowledges, and awards the diverse and creative efforts of those who artistically pay homage to the horse. It is the world’s premier showcase for domestic and international feature films, documentaries and shorts, in which the horse is center stage.

Advanced Equine Studies creates artful and in-depth DVD learning experiences for equestrians and equine caregivers worldwide. She talks about respiratory anatomy, lung function, infectious and non-infectious respiratory disease, and other related topics such as parasites that affect the lungs.

The DVD also features architect John Blackburn who explains how he creates a healthy respiratory environment in his premier barns and arenas and nutrition expert Karen Briggs who discusses feeding for respiratory health. The program equates all this information to better performance in the saddle.

Advanced Equine Studies DVDs are scheduled to cover all the horse’s bodily systems as well as other topics of interest. The next DVD in the series is Saddle Fit for Horse and Rider, Including the Skeletal-Muscular Anatomy of the Back, Medical Problems, and Therapies, which is scheduled for release in March 2016.
