Deadline is Oct. 19 for video entries, which will be played on the Del Mar Arena big screen before the Rancho Valencia World Cup Grand Prix of Del Mar Saturday on Oct. 26. In addition to the $1,000 first prize, second place will receive $300, third $200.

There also is a $500 "People's Choice Award," given to the entry which receives the most online votes on horsetrader.com before a judging deadline of midnight, Oct. 25.

The contest unveils California Horsetrader's new "Contest Engine" technology that the publication uses in combination with its print, internet and social media line-up to help promote its advertisers and partners.

"Contests are a great way to engage our readers and website visitors, and our ability to conduct quality, secure contests for partners like the Del Mar International is a natural," said California Horsetrader Publisher Warren Wilson.

"Our readers enjoy them, and so do the respective followings of our advertisers and partners.  Plus, both Horsetrader.com and our partners benefit from their engagement, so it's a win-win-win-win situation, really."

Wilson added that the contest engine, implemented by technology partner Dataskill, Inc. of San Diego, handles multiple contest types. Some, like video and photo contests, use a unique online judging component that permits "judges" to change their single "People's Choice" vote as new entries are entered.

When a new entry is entered, the judges receive an email with a link to watch the video and update their vote. Other contests available, such as raffles, do not require the judging component, but provide a different branding opportunity for product advertisers.

Dale Harvey, Show Manager of the Del Mar International, says the contest adds a new energy and widens the reach of his event's promotion.

"We have been associated with Warren Wilson and Horsetrader for more than 15 years, and it is a partnership that we really value and appreciate because of their innovations," Harvey said. "Our new Horsetrader.com funniest horse video contest is something that we have worked on closely with Warren and we are really excited about bringing a whole new audience to our event."
