Equestrians have two seasons. Show season and non-show season. And Rate My Riding is just as useful during the off-season as it is during show season. Here’s how you can utilize Rate My Riding during the winter months:

Getting feedback for better horse show performance

Getting feedback for better horse show performance

Equestrians that are forced indoors by winter weather may want to turn to Rate My Riding for help getting feedback on riding and ideas for exercises that can be done in the available space.

Review the Show Season

The off-season is a time to look forward to summer months, but also to reflect on recent successes and failures. Rate My Riding can help you do just that. Send in your show season footage to one of our coaches and they can help you identify what you did right, what you did wrong and what you can improve on for next season.

Practice Makes Perfect

It’s never too early to start practicing for next year. So, have someone take a video of you riding next year’s test or pattern and send the video to Rate My Riding for feedback. This way, you’ll be practicing what the judges want to see. Remember, several of Rate My Riding’s coaches are also judges—like Gayle Lampe, James Hale and Christine Johnston—so you can get feedback from actual judges!

Garner Ideas

One of the worst parts of the winter season (for those who have to work with cold and snow) is riding indoors. For most of us, that means riding in an oversized round pen with little room to really work our horses. If that’s the case for you, you may want to turn to Rate My Riding for help. Send a video of you and your horse working in your indoor arena and ask your coach for two things: feedback on your riding and ideas for exercises you can do in the space you have. Chances are our coaches will have some ideas that you may not be able to think of on your own.

Ask Questions

During the off-season, you may not take as many lessons with your usual riding instructor, which may leave you with unanswered questions. To resolve them, send your videos to RateMyRiding.com. For only $19.99 our coaches can help you with your riding as well as answer your questions. Just remember, the only bad question is the one you didn’t ask!
