Global Animal Management announces that eyeD will sponsor the Reichert Celebration in Fort Worth, Texas, August 30 – September 9. During the event, Reichert Stakes yearling sale horses and ponies will go through the eyeD identification process. At the 2013-2015 Reichert Celebration, these same horses will be verified by eyeD prior to entering a class.

This will be the same process for select Signature Classes at the Reichert Celebration including the Equine Sports Medicine Two Year Old Challenge horses and Equine Chronicle Two Year Old Color Classic horses. Approximately 150 yearlings will go through the Reichert sale and be eligible to show in 2013.
“eyeD is a non-invasive form of equine identification that takes only seconds. We are excited to be part of the Reichert Celebration, providing equine identification services for the next four years,” said David Knupp, marketing manager, Global Animal Management. “Attendees will also have the opportunity to register their horses and become early-adopters of the eyeD solution.”
The eyeD solution is secure, easy-to-use and accurate. It provides a non-invasive option for horse owners, veterinarians, associations and event regulators to identify horses and manage equine information. The technology is more accurate than tattoos or markings and more secure than paper documents. It offers an easy alternative to the complication and uncertainty of traditional ID methods.
“We are excited about all the possibilities eyeD has to offer our show and exhibitors, especially that all yearlings going through the Reichert Stakes Sale will be scanned and rescanned in 2013 for verification of accuracies in entries,” Reichert Celebration Founder J.R. Reichert said.
In addition to the stakes sale, eyeD will also perform iris scans on all horses named to show in the Equine Sports Medicine Maiden Two Year Old Western Pleasure Challenge in July.
eyeD utilizes the unique features of the animal’s iris to establish an identification code in much the same way that iris identification has been perfected in humans. A digital photo, called an eyePrintä, is taken of each of the horse’s eyes using a special camera.
The images are electronically stored along with photos to pedigree registrations and medical records, among other information. Because no two irises are alike, an eyePrint is more accurate than a fingerprint.
Billed as the world’s largest multi-breed horse show and futurity, the Reichert Celebration was founded in Iowa in 1999. The event not only features a class for every level of horse and rider, but is the first western pleasure futurity to award $100,000 to the winner of a maiden two-year-old western pleasure horse in addition to $100,000 to a maiden three-year-old western pleasure horse.
