The Sacramento International Horse Show is one of the most spectacular equestrian events in the world and showcases the highest levels of hunter-jumper competition that you don’t get to experience anywhere else in Northern California,” said SIHS veteran show manager, Dale Harvey. “The Murieta Equestrian Center is an incredible facility and a great place to watch these international athletes compete.”

The SIHS’ collaboration with Make-A-Wish® marks the first time the horse show will surprise a Make-A-Wish® Kid awaiting her wish, “We are so grateful to local partners who step forward in making a child’s wish come true,” said Make-A-Wish® President and CEO Jennifer Stolo. “We often hear from the child and family that they are so moved and impacted by the kindness of complete strangers who play a role in granting their wish.”

The SIHS’ first week known as the “Welcome Week” ran September 25 through September 29 and featured the 2019 NorCal Medal Finals along with several other notable events. The “World Cup Week” starting October 2 is where the real excitement takes place. Main events well-known for drawing thousands of people to sell out the Murieta Equestrian Center include:

  • Thursday, October 3, 6:00 pm: $36,500 Grand Prix Qualifier 1.50M
  • Friday, October 4, 6:15pm: $36,500 Murieta Inn, Spa and Restaurant 1.45M
  • Saturday, October 5, 7:25pm: $100,000 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Sacramento 1.60M presented by Sky Partners will showcase world-class athletes competing in an intense show jumping competition. SIHS is part of the prestigious Longines FEI Jumping North American League, hosting one of only seven World Cup™ Qualifiers on the West Coast. A victory party follows with a live band, autograph sessions and other festivities.>

Show jumping is one of the only sporting events where men and women compete directly against each other. Northern California favorites Mandy Porter, 2018 winner of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Sacramento, and Karrie Rufer, 2018 winner of the SIHS $40,000 FEI Welcome Grand Prix, as well as other top equestrians such as Olympic veteran Rich Fellers will compete for points to qualify for the 2020 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Finals in Las Vegas.

This year’s show jumping course is designed by FEI Level 3 Course Designer Marina Azevedo, Brazil’s first female course designer and one of only three women ever to secure an FEI Level 3 course designer status. Azevedo, a former competitor of 25 years who competed in Brazil’s most prestigious horse shows including the national championships and South American Games, designs courses that showcase the athleticism, relationships and finesse of the most talented horse and rider combinations in the sport.
