The National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) concluded five days of productive meetings with NRHAâs top leaders this past week in Scottsdale, Ariz. Focusing on the associationâs core business objectives for 2015, NRHAâs Board of Directors also met to guide the future of the sport of Reining.

Among several items discussed included revisions to the 2015 NRHA Derby and NRHA Futurity Conditions, the 2015 NRHA Derby Schedule and the NRHA Nomination Conditions. In addition, the association made tremendous advances in the sport of Reining by approving a further defined penalty chart for the NRHA Animal Welfare & Medications Policy (11-07-27, not including Europe).
Prior to the Board of Directors meeting, members representing the Affiliate, Bylaws, Eligibility, Non Pro, Past Presidents, Professionals, Sale Selection, Sire & Dam and Youth committees convened to discuss member programs, fee structures, NRHA events, NRHA governance, and made decisions on opportunities available now that continue to grow the popularity of the sport.
Committee chairpersons presented their report to the NRHA Board of Directors for further discussion. In addition, the Medications and Global Governance Task Forces met to address topics requested by the Board of Directors.
âOverall, this was a tremendously productive meeting of NRHAâs leaders, members and staff. This meeting was truly a testament to the passion and eagerness our members have in advancing the sport of Reining, as well as the love and dedication they have for the welfare of their horses,â said Rick Clark, NRHA President.

In addition to NRHAâs committees and Board of Directors, the Reining Horse Sports Foundation (RHSF) met to discuss the organizationâs annual fundraising plans as well as review a presentation showcasing the plans for a new NRHA Hall of Fame and Museum.
