Horses have been incorporated into various human health and wellness services for many years, however involving horses within the context of mental health is relatively new. Horses can make a big difference in the mental health challenges so many people face and help them transform in a safe and powerful way.

That’s why the American Horse Council, with the help of title sponsor Zoetis Equine, and executive producer, Horses for Mental Health, are thrilled to announce the Seen Through Horses campaign will be returning for a third year.

Seen Through Horses is a peer-to-peer awareness campaign in which people, non-profits, mental health specialists, celebrities, influencers, and businesses help to increase awareness, and public engagement and raise funds to improve access to programs incorporating horses into mental health and personal growth services. The campaign is set to run the entire month of May 2024.

In 2023, the second Seen Through Horses campaign garnered support from equestrians of all levels, including celebrities like lifelong horseman Randy Travis, Grammy Winner, Tanya Tucker and Yellowstone actor, Forrie J Smith, and many others. It also raised over $120,000 for non-profit organizations who transform lives through horses. The 2024 campaign, which will take place May 1-31, is on track to be even bigger than last year, with 80 nonprofit organizations as Charity Partners.

“As the American Horse Council represents all segments of the horse industry, and continuously works to strengthen the role horses play in our lives, we recognize the importance of supporting initiatives that strengthen the bond between horses and humans.” Says Julie Broadway, President of the American Horse Council.

In addition to the title sponsor and producer, premier partners supporting the campaign include The American Horse Council, American Psychological Association’s Section on Human-Animal Interaction (APA HAI), Arenas for Change (ARCH), Black in the Saddle, Equine Network, EQUUS Films & Arts, EQUUS Television Network, Horses & Humans Research Foundation, Institute for Human-Animal Connection, Natural Lifemanship, New Trails Learning Systems, PATH International, Polyvagal Equine Institute, Rural Minds, Temple Grandin Equine Center (CSU), The HERD Institute, and US Equestrian.
