Most recently known for the HBO movie, "Temple Grandin" and her recently published book "Animals Make Us Human," Ms. Grandin is the pioneer of change in the livestock industry.
Temple Grandin is a leader in livestock behavior, welfare and facility design. The curved chute, race systems and the center track restrainer system that Ms. Grandin designed are used across North America and worldwide.
Ms. Grandin "also developed an objective scoring system for assessing handling of cattle and pigs at meat plants." This system is also used worldwide and improves animal welfare, handling and productivity.
Not only is Temple Grandin a leader in the animal welfare movement but also in autism advocacy. Ms. Grandin spent her early years dealing with what at that time was a misunderstood developmental disorder. Ms. Grandin advocates for early intervention for children with autism.
With the help and support of her mother, educators and others close to her, she went on to earn a B.A. in Psychology from Franklin Pierce College, an M.S. in Animal Science from Arizona State University and a Ph.D in Animal Sciences from University of Illinois.
Ms. Grandin attributes her success in the livestock industry to her hypersensitivities of various stimuli, visual memory and insights into the minds of animals as a result of her autism. Ms. Grandin is now a professor in the Animal Sciences Department at Colorado State University.
She has received numerous awards, authored a large collection of books and scientific studies and lectures to audiences across the globe.
Please don't miss out on this opportunity to listen to an influential leader in our industry!
