Ninety-three adult trainers competing in the Extreme Mustang Makeover (EMM) in Fort Worth, Texas, bid on a mustang of their choice to train and compete with at the Texas EMM event, January 23-25, 2020, at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. On Sept. 13 and 14, these adults plus 41 youth will finally get to pick-up their mustangs and bring them home for the transformation of a lifetime.

The Extreme Mustang Makeover was created by the Mustang Heritage Foundation (MHF) to allow mustangs a chance to showcase their beauty, versatility and trainability to the public through a competitive event.
The mustangs competing in this event are wild mares and geldings, typically 4-7 years old for adult trainers and 12-24 months old for youth trainers, which have been living in Bureau of Land Management (BLM) off-range corrals.
Trainers and mustangs spend approximately 120 days working together to prepare to compete in a series of classes that will showcase their new skills and a chance to take home over $130,000 in cash and prizes. The youth and yearling pairs will compete in a handling and conditioning class and in-hand trail and freestyle classes.
The adult horse-and-rider-duos will compete in a handling and conditioning class, a pattern class and a combined leading and riding class. The Top 10 adult competitors will then get to compete in a freestyle finals performance. At the end of the performance, all adult horses will be available for purchase via public competitive bid.
“For 14 years now, the Extreme Mustang Makeover has paired a skilled horse trainer with a wild mustang to not only showcase the value of the horse through competition, but to also provide a gentled mustang to a purchaser who may not have the skills to do the initial gentling himself,” said Randi Blasienz, Director of Operations for the Mustang Heritage Foundation.
“The trainers selected for this event will in effect be making a large donation of their time and resources over the next four months - to the American mustang and to the American people. The Mustang Heritage Foundation couldn’t be more proud to have their support and involvement, and we can’t wait to see their accomplishments in January.”
For the first time, this EMM will be held in conjunction with the 2020 Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo, and it is going to be an exciting event you won’t want to miss. Come out to the Will Rogers Coliseum on January 23-25 and witness the transformations for yourself.
Also, for the first time, Mustang Magic is an invitation only celebrity freestyle event. Eight of the top mustang trainers and entertainers will be competing for a top prize of $25,000 on January 24th at 6pm. Tickets for both events are on sale now at https://extrememustangmakeover.com/events/texas/ and https://www.mustangmagic2020.com. Get yours before they sell out and make plans to bring home your own American Mustang.
