Roberts and his wife Pat have given service to the Royal Family for the past 22 years.

Roberts rode Cherokee Grey Hawk, a Quarter Horse he trained as part of his Willing Partners™ Program, a special training for horses chosen for their gentle, tractable temperaments and trained to be calm but highly responsive for riders of all levels. Roberts rode in four evening events alongside Terry Pendry, the Queen’s stud groom, and Bill Stewart, MVO from Canada as part of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Last year Roberts was honored with a Member of Victorian Order (MVO) award, making him a member of the Victorian Order for his personal service to the Queen. The Queen awarded Roberts the medal on Saturday, June 11 in a private meeting, remarking that it was not only his work with Her Majesty’s Thoroughbreds but also his work with schools, prisons, youth detention centers and domestic abuse centers that contributed to the award.

“It is absolutely wonderful that we are reaching the tipping point. I believe that in the year 2012 at least 50 percent of all horses trained on earth will see some portion of my concepts. This has captured the imagination of the Queen who brought my principles to the world. I am pleased with this position as it insures me that my concepts will reach a far greater audience carrying the endorsement of Her Majesty, The Queen than it ever would have done given a solo attempt.”

Monty Roberts, now 77, is traveling and demonstrating around the world. He is training horses in front of live audiences staying the course to his mission “to leave the world a better place for horses and for people too.” Monty will be doing an intensive five day clinic at his California Flag Is Up Farms on August 6-10. Attendees from around the world will come to see a master at work.    In autumn Monty will tour England in October and Germany in November.MONTY ROBERTS AVAILABLE FOR SELECT INTERVIEWS:

MONTY ROBERTS first gained widespread fame with the release of his New York Times Best Selling book, The Man Who Listens to Horses; which remained on the New York Times Best Selling list for 58 weeks. The book chronicles his life and development of his non-violent horse training methods called Join-Up®.

Monty grew up with horses in Salinas, California and was witness to traditional, often violent methods of horse training methods. Rejecting that, he went on to win nine world's championships in the show ring. Today, Monty's goal is to share his message that "Violence is never the answer."

Roberts has been encouraged by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as well as being recipient of the ASPCA "Founders" award and the MSPCA George T. Angell Humanitarian Award. In an effort to help more horses, and people, globally, he launched his Equus Online University; an interactive online lesson site that is already being considered the most effective educational tool for horsemen on the web.
