On Saturday May 28, 2011, Monty Roberts demonstrated his non-violent horse training methods to families from Montessori Center School in Santa Barbara to raise funds for the school.

The benefit event donated by Monty and Pat Roberts included a demonstration of Monty's trust-based communication methods with horses at their beautiful ranch, Flag Is Up Farms. In 2010, Monty and Pat donated a similar package and raised almost $10,000 for Montessori Center School.

Monty's life mission is to leave the world a better place for horses and for people too. Towards this goal, he has invested much time and energy in supporting educational causes and creating learning opportunities for youth, including founding a school, the Monty Roberts International Learning Center, where students from around the world gather to learn nonviolent training techniques and developing a web-based learning tool known as the Equus Online University. With his wife Pat, Monty has raised 47 foster children in addition to their own 3 biological children.

Most recently, Monty has written a book that enlightens and entertains children while helping them better understand the hearts and minds of horses. This first novel from Monty was inspired by requests from children the world over to tell the story from the American Mustang Shy Boy's perspective. Like Black Beauty, the story is told in the voice and from the perspective of the horse.
