Just this past week, the Peopleâs Silver Telly Award was given to Willie Nelsonâs video âThe Love of Horsesâ. As shown in the video, Willie Nelson met Jerry Finch and other members of Habitat for Horses several years ago while they were all working to get legislation passed that would end the slaughter of horses.

Habitat for Horses contacted Willie regarding horses that were destined for an auction where there would be kill-buyers. Kill-buyers buy horses to send them to slaughter houses in Mexico and Canada. Willie Nelson and his family stepped up. These horses are now living under the care of the Nelson family.
âThe Love of Horsesâ shows the true devotion Willie and his family have to horses. We are grateful for Willie Nelsonâs endorsement of Habitat for Horses as âa great organizationâ with whom he has âworked with alotâ. âThe Love of Horsesâ has been submitted for an Emmy under the Lone Star Chapter â a regional Emmy award. Let us hope that Willie wins once again! Remember â when you donate to Habitat for Horses â you are supporting an organization Willie Nelson trusts and endorses. Now, Willie Nelsonâs family is asking for help for funding for a documentary on Ben Dorcy, a roadie for Willie and other stars who is famous as the âfirst roadieâ and oldest working roadie in the world at the age of 90. An amazing person, Ben Dorcy â aka Lovey â is known for his hard work and adaptability.
Ben Darcyâs 90th birthday was on May 19, so it is fitting that a Kickstarter campaign to ensure that future generations will know about this amazing man who has helped Willie Nelson so much starts today.
