Vita Flex Victory Team member and eventer, Jan Byyny, knows only too well what it takes to cross the fine line between good and great, and she proves it again.

During an emotional awards ceremony, Byyny reflected on her win and her journey with JR, and rejoiced at the fact that they had just won a round-trip plane ticket to Europe on behalf of Tim Dutta and the Dutta Corp.’s new sponsorship of the Fair Hill International. With a final score of 51.60, this victory marks an amazing comeback for Byyny as well as her horse. Earlier this year, JR underwent surgery for a breathing issue, and it was questionable if he would ever be up to a three-star event.
For Byyny, the victory is even more remarkable. In 2010, a bad fall resulted in a stroke and left Byyny unable to speak. With her quality of life and riding career in question, Byyny pushed back hard, and through determination, perseverance and a lot of hard work, she is now not only riding and winning, but she is flying on to more victories.
Vita Flex salutes Byyny and JR. They are very proud of their Victory Team member and excited to see where Byyny chooses to fly with her wonderful $20,000 value prize. Wherever the destination, Vita Flex will be there to continue to support Byyny and her horses as they cross the fine line between good and great.
Jan Byyny has proudly represented the US in eventing, and her career highlights include team gold and individual bronze at the Pan American Championships at Fair Hill, being named as team alternate for the Athens Olympics and selection as an individual for the Aachen, Germany world Equestrian Games team as well as competing on US Equestrian teams at Malmo, Sweden and Luhmuhlen, Germany.
Byyny also has numerous top ten FEI places at Rolex Dentucky, Fair Hill International, Foxhall, Jersey Fresh, Bromont and Morven Park Three-Day Events, and has competed at Burghley, Badminton and Blenheim in England and Pau in France.
She is currently striving to be chosen for the 2014 World Equestrian Games US team, and hoping to join some other amazing Vita Flex Victory Team members in Normandy. The Vita Flex Victory Team is comprised of many world-class riders, including jumper riders Lauren Hough, Todd Minikus, and Patty Stovel, dressage riders Adrienne Lyle, Caroline Roffman and Lisa Wilcox, and reiners Bob Avila and Al Dunning.
