Being a Big Time Cowboy

Carrying on the legacy of the cowboy lifestyle and raised in the Western way of life, readers of American Cowboy magazine shared their Growing Up Cowboy stories to win prizes.

Readers submitted a short essay and picture depicting how iconic American values such as family, hard work, and tradition are essential to their daily life.

The Grand Prize winner of the Growing Up Cowboy Sweepstakes is Kim Dorr from Wagoner, Okla. Dorr submitted a story about her son Kaleb, who helps his dad feed and fix fence on the family’s 60-acre ranch, spends plenty of time in the saddle on his Shetland pony, Shorty, and is truly growing up cowboy.

For her winning entry, Dorr will receive a prize package from sweepstakes sponsors Corral Boots, Cowgirl Tuff Company, and B. Tuff Jeans as well as being featured in the December/January issue of American Cowboy magazine.

Along with the sweepstakes, American Cowboy followed five National High School Rodeo athletes as they competed at the National Finals held in Rock Springs, Wyoming.
