At the All American Quarter Horse Congress in October, horses trained by Jason Martin and Charlie Cole of HighPoint Performance Horses won 12 Championships and 12 Reserve Championship titles. Horses trained by Jim and Deanna Searles of Circle S Ranch won 2 Championships and 3 Reserves. Horses from these two farms, both proud members of Team SmartPak, also won 9 of the top 15 ribbons in Senior Western Riding with Deanna Searles winning the Championship on Heza Radical Zip.
At the AQHA World Championship Show in November, HighPoint had 5 Champions and 2 Reserve Champions while Circle S had 4 horses with Top Ten finishes. Jason Martin and the legendary mare Vital Signs Are Good won their 6th World Championship together in Senior Western Riding.
At the NRHA Futurity that ended on December 1, Team SmartPak rider Tim McQuay finished 2nd in the Level 4 Finals of the open division aboard Gunners Tinseltown. That finish propelled McQuay, a two-time World Equestrian Games team Gold Medalist, past the $3 million mark in NRHA winnings! The pair also won the Prime Time Open Championship. Fellow Team SmartPak riders Tom McCutcheon and Matt Mills each had a horse among the elite group in the Level 4 Finals as well.
