Gorgeous land, impressive barn, beautiful horses ….. unsightly manure pile?  Problem solved. Aesthetically pleasing, simple to operate, and profitable--A custom composting building may be the answer.

O2Compost has recently partnered with Barn Pros, the leading manufacturer of pre-engineered structures, in launching a new, large capacity version of the popular Paragon composting system. This efficient and elegant multi-bay structure, with spruce tongue and groove sidewalls and a peaked gable roof, is completely scalable to handle manure up to a few dozen horses.

“We just recently sold a large capacity Paragon system to a customer in Redmond, WA and the structure blends beautifully with the surrounding buildings,” stated Justin Harries, Barn Pros business director. “We have outfitted it with premium-select grade lumber, clear span trusses, powder-coated black hardware and a functional cedar cupola. It’s not just an efficient solution to manure disposal – it enhances property value.”

02Compost, located in Snohomish, Washington, is one of the leading organic waste management companies in the U.S. Its professional collaboration with Barn Pros the past couple of years has created composting systems such as an aerated compost micro-bin kit, along with the three- and four-bay standard Paragon compost system for smaller applications.

The key to 02Compost’s composting success lies in efficient aeration.

  • Fresh air (i.e. oxygen) is metered throughout the mix of materials using an electric blower, powered by standard electricity or off-grid solar power.  The blower, along with an accompanying timer, comes with a Lifetime Warranty.
  • In a properly-operated compost system, pile temperatures are sufficient to destroy parasites and pathogens in the mix, and eliminate offensive odors.
  • High temperatures also destroy fly larvae and weed seeds, improving your horses’ health and yielding a safe, high-quality finished product.
  • Finally, aeration greatly expedites the composting process and lends itself to a true flow-through process, thereby eliminating the “2-year pile syndrome.” All of this takes place in 30 to 60 days, without turning the compost pile.

Peter Moon, O2Compost owner and CEO, is the visionary behind the environmental compost movement.

“Proper composting of animal waste has become one of the key components in preserving the water quality of our streams, rivers, lakes and groundwater,” Peter reflected. “I’ve found that farmers and ranchers are beginning to understand that they can have a powerful, positive impact on their surrounding land just by making a simple investment in a composting structure. The best part is that they can sell their compost and convert a disposal expense into a new profit center.”
