The Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Club will host a seminar called Flair Nasal Strips: The Clinically Proven Alternative to Lasix on Tuesday, April 9 at 1:30 p.m. at the Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Ky.

The seminar will feature FLAIR co-inventor and president, Jim Chiapetta DVM JD. Dr. Chiapetta will be joined by expert speakers from the Thoroughbred racing industry who will discuss EIPH/bleeding, lung stress, and airway resistance topics targeted specifically to trainers, breeders, owners, racing officials and regulatory and association veterinarians.

“FLAIR Nasal Strips provide horsemen an opportunity to maximize protection for their horses’ lungs,” said Dr. Chiapetta. “Eight studies have been published in veterinary literature. Like Lasix/Salix, FLAIR Nasal Strips have been proven to reduce EIPH/bleeding during intensive exercise. With equine health, medication and safety concerns being voiced throughout the industry, it is crucial that stakeholders from all sides stay abreast of the latest information available, and especially with regard to EIPH.”

“More than 75 percent of Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association members support a measured phase-out of race-day medication,” said Dan Metzger, president of TOBA. “Those members, as well as stakeholders from throughout the industry need to be aware of scientifically supported, non-drug methods for reducing EIPH.”

FLAIR® Strips provide drug-free support and protection to the respiratory system of the hard-working equine athlete. FLAIR Strips are proven to: reduce airway resistance, reduce lung stress and bleeding, reduce fatigue, and shorten post-exercise recovery time.
