Horses compete over 3 heats with the top qualifiers contesting the $500,000 Pacers final & the $150,000 Trotters Final -- both Group 1 races.
ULTIMATE SNIPER, trained by Australasian’s leading trainers Mark Purdon & Natalie Rasmussen, won all three heats – going into the final as the hot favorite – justifying his top billing with a gutsy win after being wide and parked out all the way. He became the first ever four-year-old to go through a series unbeaten. The Championship has been run since 1936, which indicates how tough a competitor “The Sniper” is.
The Trotters final was won by another All Stars stable horse -- the Purdon-Rasmussen-trained -- WINTERFELL.
The All Stars stable dominated the night winning seven of the ten races -all protected by FLAIR Strips. Horses wearing FLAIR almost had a clean sweep winning nine of the ten races. Mark Purdon was the first trainer to use a FLAIR Strip in the Southern Hemisphere and has dominated down under harness racing for over 20 years.
