One of the all-time top cutting and reined cow horse sires has a new achievement to add to his list: being immortalized as a Breyer® portrait horse! Peptoboonsmal, best-known for siring talented offspring, will be added to Breyer’s 2020 mid-year product line.
Breyer's newest introduction is a Traditional scale portrait model of Peptoboonsmal featuring his distinctive red roan coat and white blaze, with lifelike detailing.

Foaled in 1992, Peptoboonsmal (Peppy San Badger x Royal Blue Boon) was bred by original owner Larry Hall Cutting Horses. With Gary Bellenfant in the saddle, he won over $180,000 in National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) competition, and was named the 1995 NCHA Futurity Open Champion after an exciting 225-point run.
In 1996 he went on to be named the Bonanza 4-Year-Old Open Derby Champion, and the Gold Coast Open Derby Champion.
While there’s no question that Peptoboonsmal was skilled in the arena, he’s proven to be an even more talented sire. His first foal crop came of show age in 2001, and Peptoboonsmal has been a top sire ever since!
Passing down more than just his eye-catching color, his offspring have been making names for themselves in cutting, reined cow horse, and reining competitions. They’re known for being strong, athletic horses that deliver in the show ring.
Owned by Aaron Ranch since 2014, Peptoboonsmal is still at stud, siring the next generation of champions. His offspring have earned more than $27 million dollars in competition, solidifying Peptoboonsmal’s place as one of the National Reined Cow Horse Association’s top 10 all-time leading sires.
His offspring includes NCHA Horse of the Year winners, NCHA and NRCHA stakes champions, and countless other open and reserve champions.
This month, Breyer’s newest introduction is a Traditional (1:9) scale portrait model of Peptoboonsmal. Each hand-painted model features his distinctive red roan coat and white blaze, and lifelike detailing. Collectors and equine enthusiasts can find Peptoboonsmal’s Breyer model at participating toy, gift, tack and agricultural retailers nationwide, as well as www.BreyerHorses.com.
