Description
Praziquantel is an antiparasitic drug used to control tapeworms (Anoplocephala perfoliata) in horses.
Usage
In formulations labeled for use in horses, praziquantel is typically combined with another anthelmintic deworming drug such as ivermectin or moxidectin.

Side Effects
Neurologic signs were seen in safety studies at 5 times the label dose of the moxidectin/praziquantel mixture (Quest Plus). Some reports of colic after praziquantel administration have occurred in horses that had very high tapeworm loads. Generally considered safe well past label doses.
Precautions
Equine dewormers can be toxic to dogs and cats. Clean barn aisles, wash-racks, etc. after administration. Avoid contact with human eyes and mouth. For equine use only.
Interactions
None noted.
Overdose
Generally safe in studies at levels up to 3-5 times label dose. At high doses, toxicity signs as noted above may occur.
