The EQUUS film festival is innovative by being the first event of its kind: a collection of horse related works presented by equestrian producers from uniquely “horse people” perspectives.

Other events include a Welcome Reception on Thursday evening, November 17, a Li’l Herc FREE Kids Screening on Saturday, November 19, and a WINNIE Awards Ceremony on Sunday afternoon, November 20.

We learn from The EQUUS Film Festival intro page – www.EQUUSfilmfestival.net , a mission statement to visitors:

“Our festival has been created to highlight and award the diverse and creative efforts of those who artistically pay homage to the horse."

"The festival empowers storytellers to show the rich history and diverse tapestry of horses in human culture through equestrian content. We have feature films, documentaries, shorts, music videos, commercials, training educational materials, art and literature.”

While the former is true, the 4th annual EQUUS Film Festival in NYC is much more than a venue for independent and feature films. EFF is growing in terms of entries, categories and mediums but it is also growing roots as a New York City staple. EQUUS Film Festival is proving to be entertaining and exciting; an annual event that horse friends can anticipate together.

Ruth Moore says, “I attended last year and volunteered. This year, I will be buying tickets so I may attend more films.  I found it a really uniting experience.  It brought together a lot of people from different backgrounds, places and equine interests, and helped them learn more about each other. I found it very friendly and stimulating.”

EFF endeavors to bring enlightenment, broaching sensitive issues that have been brewing as hot topics of debate in social media settings. Moreover, The EQUUS film festival is innovative by being the first event of its kind:  a collection of horse related works presented by equestrian producers from uniquely “horse people” perspectives.

There are diverse viewpoints, but common themes threaded throughout a growing inventory of productions and media.  All while setting the scene for a great time in the Big Apple.  Their Fast Facts is where to check for food, lodging and a detailed breakdown of offerings.
