Although rising flood waters caused attendance numbers to drop last year, things have bounced back in a big way in 2014, and as of Sunday morning, July 6, 2014, stampede officials reported 237,193 people had filed through the turnstiles, a jump of 50,422 compared to the year before.
“We’re very happy,” said Stampede spokeswoman Jennifer Booth. The weather has been fabulous so far and as we’re an outdoor event, weather can have a huge impact on our attendance numbers.”
And with this week’s forecast calling for generally sunny skies coupled with new exhibits and attractions around the grounds, Booth said they expect the numbers to just keep going up. We have a lot of great new programs on park this year that people want to check out in addition to our iconic events like the rodeo and GMC Rangeland Derby,” she said.
“We have the Enmax Corral show which is the Peking Acrobats, it’s a great show and is free with attendance, as well this year the Bell Adrenaline Ranch is new and we also have our new Triple B (barbecue, bulls and beer garden) and very time I’ve gone by there it looks pretty busy.”
July 7, 2014, events featurs the fabulous Belgian, Clydesdale, Percheron and Shire horses — the gentle giants of the equine world — presented in all their majesty at the Scotiabank Saddledome and the new Agrium Westertn Events Centre.
