Miami County Animal Control Shelter and Miami Health Department officials are investigating a therapeutic horse farm after one dead horse was found and another one died after being removed.

The owner of the farm, Leanna Sharp, began teaching horsemanship to troubled teenagers approximately a year ago. She now faces charges of neglecting the horses after witnesses discovered the horses were not being properly fed and were housed in filthy conditions.

The Miami County Animal Shelter has turned over details to the sheriff department in an investigation of the horses’ home, Full Quiver Farms Equine Mentoring Ministry in Bunker Hill, said Susan Kulla, head of the animal shelter.

Miami County Sheriff Deputy Casey Bailey said he is working with the animal shelter on the investigation, but he did not provide any further details.
