Horses4Heroes, through its host facilities, is having a busy summer and proving every day, in cities and towns across the country, that when you make horseback riding fun and affordable, kids will come ride, despite record-breaking temperatures.

The Horses4Heroes Community Equestrian Center, in Las Vegas, now open in Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs, is running 11 weeks of summer camp, offering three options:  five-day, full-day; five-day, half-day and three-day, half day.

Camp enrollment ranges from $100 for the three-day option to $200 for the five-day choice.  Last week, 37 campers attended camp, according to Steve Distler, director of operations.  Distler noted this is the fifth year that the Las Vegas headquarters has provided summer camp to local children ages 5 to 12.

“We are excited about our new location in the heart of a 680-acre historic park and all the opportunities this new venue presents for us and our campers, including fishing, hiking and outdoor exploration, in addition to horsemanship, horse care, and learning about farm animals.  It is definitely the coolest place in Las Vegas this summer!” Distler said.

In addition to the Las Vegas headquarters, Horses4Heroes affiliates throughout the country are offering summer camps, with special pricing for local heroes and their families.

Horses4Heroes’ Operation Free Ride and Operation Free Ride Rodeo events are taking place throughout the country this summer as well.

On June 14, Flag Day, as part of the Pinto World Championship Show in Tulsa, Horses4Heroes hosted Operation Free Ride for local veterans and their families.  Horses4Heroes affiliate West Equestrian of Sand Springs, OK, provided the horses.

In July, for the second year in a row, Horses4Heroes' Operation Free Ride Rodeo is coming to Cheyenne for Cheyenne Frontier Days.  On July 18, free horseback rides will be given on the base at FE Warren AFB as part of the annual Frontier Days.  Three hundred free rodeo tickets and free t-shirts will be given away to Operation Free Ride Rodeo participants, along with Wrangler National Patriot bandanas.  All who participate will be eligible to win a statue from The Trail of Painted Ponies Patriotic Collection.

The organization’s sponsors include Wrangler National Patriot, Associated General Contractors of America “Operation Opening Doors,” Cox Charities, C-A-L Ranch, Kensington Protective Products, The Trail of Painted Ponies, South Point Hotel & Casino, and Hollywood Charity Horse Show.
