When Pure Thoughts Inc. Horse Rescue received a call that two young horses needed their help, they went to Okeechobee, Florida, to pick up two young thoroughbreds. Arriving at the farm, they were surprised at what they found: A scraggly matted six month-old colt about the size of a two-month-old and an emaciated one year-old filly.

Pure Thoughts Inc. Horse Rescue is an all breed rescue dedicated to helping horses and educating people.

Jennifer Swanson and Brad Gaver, co-founders of the all-breed horse rescue picked up the horses from a pasture. For the past few weeks, a neighbor had been helping to feed the starving horses until the rescue had room, after the owner suffered a stroke, leaving the horses, more or less on their own.

They named the six-month-old thoroughbred (Derby - Secret Letters by War Secretary by Secretariat) Jason in honor of Jason Matthews an active horse advocate.

They named the filly (Derby - Lil Miss Lollipop by Navajo)  "Willow The Wisp" because her body score is a 1 stretching to maybe a 1.2 and she woud not eat at first which is not unusual for starvation cases.

Pure Thoughts Inc. Horse Rescue is an all breed horse rescue dedicated to helping horses that are in danger of going to slaughter, victims of abuse, neglect and starvation as well as educating people of all ages about eqine care and welfare.

They are an all volunteer 501c3 non profit organization. Since 2002 they have helped over 1500 horses. In March 0f 2009 they expanded their Thoroughbred Division, since then have helped over 150 ex-racehorses begin a new chapter in their lives after their racing career is over.
