Horse breeder's lifestyle supported by embezzlement

Well-known horse breeder and comptroller for Dixon, Illinois, has been arrested for embezzling millions from the small town's coffers.

Crundell maintained a lavish life style through, what the people of Dixon were lead to believe, her horse breeding business. It was only when she took time off to devote to her horse business, that an employee filling in for her noticed suspicious bank statements that had nothing to do with the operation of the small city.

With services being cut the last few years, Crundell had maintained that  major budget cuts were the result of state cutbacks.

According to reports, Crundwell  spent huge sums on her two horse farms and on luxuries including a $2.1 million top-end mobile home.
