A 34-year-old quarter horse fell into a septic tank in north east Portland , Oregon on Monday, March 26, 2012, and was left with only her head showing above ground level.
Stuck in the muck for approximately a half hour, a rope rescue team was called in by the fire department and succeeded in using a pulley system to lift the horse out of the septic tank and onto her feet safely.
Roxy, described by her owner Martha Johnston as a "sweet old horse," suffered a cut to her front leg and was stressed and shaking, but able to walk to her barn after being given a bath.
