Importance of matching human-horse personalities

A new must-have book on human and horse personality shows how matching personalities can improve relationships between you and your horse.

Both humans and horses have four distinct “Social Styles,” or personality types. These Social Styles, modified by variables seen and unseen, result in the behaviors—both our own and our horses’—that we deal with every day.

Identifying personality has long served to improve client-customer relationships and increase sales figures in business, and it is from this practical realm that author Eunice Rush draws experience. In this innovative and vastly interesting book, Rush teams up with horse trainer Marry Morrow to now apply the kind of techniques that can bring great success in your career and personal relationships to the complex world of choosing, training, and riding your horse.

Rush and Morrow provide dozens of questionnaires and tests to help you pinpoint your own traits and tendencies, and those of your horse. They then explain how to use your new knowledge to nurture a change in your own personality to better match his. Or, if you are “horse shopping,” their methods can help you find the “perfect match.”

You can download a FREE sample chapter of Know You, Know Your Horse, as well as the human and horse personality questionnaires.

Eunice Rush spent over 25 years working in business, sales, and adult education, where one of the things she enjoyed most was teaching others how to be good salespeople. Rush spent a lot of time studying exactly what makes people “tick,” and how to manage them, sell to them, educate them, and form partnerships with them. In her spare time, she has always ridden horses, and currently owns three.

Marry Morrow is a lifelong horsewoman who first began studying natural horsemanship at age 17, exploring the methodologies of many clinicians before meeting Frank Bell and becoming one of his certified trainers. Morrow now teaches her own clinics and helps clients train their horses, as well as working with equine rescue groups to rehabilitate abused horses for new homes. Both Rush and Morrow live in Indiana.
