You've heard the expression, it's takes a village to raise a child. This past weekend in Blackduck, Minnesota, it took a village to "raise" a Percheron, which is a large draft horse.

On Friday, Mae, the Percheron, got stuck in some mud. Owner Pat Delaney got her unstuck. But Mae was exhausted and couldn't move.

Tractors tried to move her. But with Mae's weighing in at 2,000 pounds, no deal. On Saturday, the village arrived.

Family, friends and Rick Bogart's tow truck lifted her, but the straps weren't wide enough to move her far enough. On Sunday, Bogart's tow truck was back- this time with a second hoist strap, one made just for Mae.

It worked.

Mae was moved to Pat's barn and has been recovering ever since with the help of some antibiotics to prevent pneumonia.

Delaney wants to thank the Nord and Bogart families and Mallory Salcedoh, the small animal vet who stayed by her side until Tuesday afternoon.
