Having won the Kentucky Derby, I'll Have Another will join an elite group of horses, including Secretariat and Whirlaway in the race for the triple crown after a rousing, come-from-behind victory in the 138th running of the Race for the Roses.
With the first leg of the Triple Crown checked off with a Derby win, I'll Have Another will head to Pimlico in Maryland for the Preakness Stakes and, if he wins there, out to Long Island for the Belmont with hopes of becoming the first three-year-old to sweep all three crown jewel events in a single season since Affirmed won the Triple Crown in 1978.
The next leg of the 2012 Triple Crown Schedule is the Preakness Stakes on May 19, followed by the Belmont Stakes on June 9.
The horse's trainer, Doug O'Neill, was already talking about the Triple Crown, when shortly after the race, he bellowed, "Maryland, here we come baby!"
