The Kentucky Horse Council today announces that Kentucky Round-Up, a new family event featuring horses, will benefit two family-oriented charities: Kentucky's two Ronald McDonald Houses, Bluegrass and Kentuckiana, and New Beginnings Therapeutic Riding of Bowling Green.
Supporting charities that benefit families
Kentucky Round-Up will be held February 2, 2013 at the Alltech Arena and is designed for families, children and adults interested in fun, learning and entertainment revolving around the horse.

Kentucky Round-Up also includes the KHC Members' Awards Banquet and an evening concert by country music star John Michael Montgomery.
The two charities were chosen based on the important work they do in the areas of support for children and families with needs in the area of health care support and equine therapy for special needs.
"Kentucky's horsemen have always been generous, and they believe in the importance of family", commented Anna Zinkhon, President of the Kentucky Horse Council board. "Supporting the Ronald McDonald Houses and New Beginnings Therapeutic Riding is consistent with those values, and is an important way the horse industry can give back to our communities."
New Beginnings Therapeutic Riding, Inc. is located in Bowling Green, KY and has been providing equine assisted activities for over 15 years to ages 5-80+ with disabilities. It is certified by PATH, Intl. (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship). In 2011, they served 250+ individuals with 172 volunteers and two part-time paid staff. At NBTR, horses are making a difference in individuals' lives with disabilities.
There are two Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) in Kentucky: RMHC of the Bluegrass (Lexington) and RMHC Kentuckiana (Louisville). Ronald McDonald Houses provide a "home-away-from-home" for families so they can stay close by their hospitalized child at little or no cost.
RMHC Kentuckiana was founded in 1984 and in addition to the house located in downtown Louisville, has family rooms within three Louisville hospitals. Since their founding, RMHC Kentuckiana has helped more than 70,000 family members from all 50 states and several international locations. They offer 36 guestrooms and are located near the Jewish and University of Louisville hospitals.
RMHC Bluegrass creates and supports programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children and strengthens families by keeping them together in times of medical need. The house in Lexington offers 20 guestrooms and is located near the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.
