Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine is accepting applications now for the Merial Veterinary Scholars Program.
The mission of the Merial Veterinary Scholars Program is to expose veterinary students in their first or second year of veterinary school to biomedical research and career opportunities in research. Through a supportive, mentored research experience in an established laboratory and through seminars and discussion groups on careers in science, it is hoped that veterinary students will gain an insight on career opportunities in biomedical research.
The mission of the Merial Veterinary Scholars Program is to expose veterinary students in their first or second year of veterinary school to biomedical research and career opportunities in research.
The Merial Veterinary Scholars Program culminates in a national symposium where veterinary students participating in the program gather from all over the U.S. and Canada to present their research findings and share experiences from their various programs. Presentations by and networking opportunities with invited veterinary scientists, researchers and faculty members are also part of the national symposium program.
Student Eligibility:
Veterinary students in their first or second year of veterinary school are encouraged to apply.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Letter of intent.
- Proposal topics (up to 3).
- Please note that preference towards those without previous research experience is given.
Program Details:
- Programs are typically 10 to 12 weeks during the summer and held at veterinary schools throughout the U.S. and Canada.
- 3 Positions available (2 internal and 1 exchange student).
- Stipend: $500/week for 10-12 weeks.

Program Commitments: Students will commit to completing a research project during the summer term under the guidance of an approved RUSVM faculty mentor, participate in program activities (weekly seminars and tours), and produce a final poster presenting their research findings.
Exchange Program: Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM) has funding available for (1) summer research scholar.
Mentor Selection: Participating mentors and a description of their research are listed in the chart below. Please email mentors you are interested in working with a paragraph describing your interest in their project and include your resume.
