Over past years, the names for horses appear to stay rather constant, although with the impact of the internet and mass media on a global scale, the names people are giving their horses often relate to movies, books, events and other sources.
What might be surprising about the top 10 most popular horse names is that they are all traditional, although the influence of current media does have some impact with foal names such as "Twilight" based on the hit series coming into play.
For example, in some areas, 'Twilight" has become a favorite name for horses based on the popular "Twilight" series.
Continuing a tradition started in 2001, SmartPak draws the Top 10 List from the horses that receive their supplements in SmartPaks yearly. Custom packed to meet the needs of each individual horse, every daily dose SmartPak is labeled with that horse's name â not only making feeding mistakes virtually impossible, but also giving SmartPak unique insight into naming trends among well-cared for horses.
What might be surprising to see is that the top 10 most popular horse names at the moment are all quite traditional, theyâre not outrageous or typically modern names.
The top two names on SmartPak's last yearâs list flip flopped this year with âJackâ replacing âBuddyâ as the number one most popular. âBellaâ moved up from number six to number three, dropping âMaxâ from three to four.
Two names not included in last yearâs Top 10 moved on to the List this year as âCharlieâ and âAnnieâ knocked âBlueâ and âTeddyâ off the list. âRockyâ and âCodyâ remain perennial favorites with each making its eighth appearance on the list since 2001, the first year that supplements became available in daily dose SmartPaks.
