Nation's Best Youth to Compete at the 2015 Interscholastic Equestrian Association Western Championship

More than 176 of the nation's leading middle school and high school equestrians will compete for top prizes at the 2015 Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) National Western Finals competitions.

More than 176 of the nation's leading middle school and high school equestrians will compete for top prizes at the 2015 Interscholastic Equestrian Association National Western Finals competitions on June 25 - 26, 2015.

The 2015 Western National Finals will be held at the Oklahoma State Fair Park in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, June 25 and 26. Sponsored by the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA), the competition will run in conjunction with the NRHA Derby. The riders will display their talents in Reining and Horsemanship, as individuals and teams during the two-day event.

Student riders, in grades 6-12, will travel from across the United States to participate in the competitions. The competitors represent the best of nearly 1,250 riders on more than 51 teams from six zones, that competed in numerous Western shows during the 2014-2015 school year.

The teams and individuals that accumulated the highest number of points during the regular show season qualify for regional competitions with the top performers going on to Zone Finals. The top riders and teams in Zone Finals move to the IEA Western Nationals.

This highest-level scholastic competition and supporting events are sponsored by: National Reining Horse Association (NRHA), National Reining Horse Youth Association (NRHyA), Certified Horsemanship Association, College Equestrian Consulting, Smith Brothers, Rod's Western Place, Hodges Badge Company, Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA), Ink Stables, Jl Tee's, Liberty University, United States Pony Clubs, Inc. (USPC), ReVita Vet, and the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF).

About the Interscholastic Equestrian Association

Founded in 2002, the IEA is a non-profit formed to promote and improve the quality of equestrian competition and instruction available to middle and secondary school students.

Its purpose is to set minimum standards for competition, provide information concerning the creation and development of school associated equestrian sport programs to, and to generally promote the common interests of safe riding instruction and competition and education on matters related to equestrian competition at the middle and secondary school levels.

Unique to the IEA-there is no need to own a horse. Mounts and tack are supplied to each rider at every IEA event. The IEA currently has over 11,500 participants, ages 11-19, across the United States riding in Western and Hunt Seat disciplines and is available for public and private schools and barn teams.
