Three months after the Occupy Wall Street Movement began, New Yorkers are complaining about horses owned by the Police Department, that defecate on the narrow city streets near Wall Street where many pedestrians must walk.

Although OWS protesters have been forcibly evicted from their settlement in Zuccotti Park, the NYPD still regularly dispatches its mounted unit to Wall St., producing bottlenecks, frustrated walkers, and piles of manure.

Unlike responsible dog owners, the NYPD doesn’t clean up immediately after its equine's which results in piles of malodorous manure all over the streets and sidewalks which are crowded with tourists, office workers, food vendors, and business people who walk from parking lots to places of work.

Many have observed that the mounted officers do not seem to contribute to law enforcement, but remain ready for photo ops, while the regular officers do the work.

Mayor Bloomberg, who quickly pointed his finger at the Occupy Wall Street People for making unnecessary work for both officers and city sanitation workers is being accused of not enforcing the basic rules of city sanitation when it comes to patrol horses on the streets.

Many do not see any ppurpose in having the horses downtown, since law enforcement agencies have much more sophisticated tools at its disposal when it comes to controlling or dispering large crowds.
