The Panelists
Dr. Philippe Benoit, DVM, DACVSMR
Philippe is a former French and Saudi Arabian Olympic jumping team veterinarian and former FEI Veterinary Committee member. As an equine sports medicine consultant, his special interests include orthopedics, orthobiologics and axial skeleton issues in horses.
Dr. Marc Koene – DVM, IAVC/IVCA
Marc is the German dressage team veterinarian and a 10-year vet for the German driving team. He is a co-founder and owner of the Lüsche Equine Veterinary Clinic in Germany, one of the largest equine clinics in Europe and including several satellite facilities.
Mark is an FEI veterinary delegate, FEI permitted treating veterinarian, and a board member of the FEI Equine Prohibited Substance List Group. Lameness, surgery, ophthalmology and sport horse support are among his keen interests. Marc is active in research and the application of new technologies like 3D printing, feed supplements and laser treatment.
Dr. Tim Ober, DVM
Tim served as the U.S. jumping team’s veterinarian for 22 years. He is a partner in John R Steele & Associates and continues to focus on the sports medicine care of jumpers, hunters and dressage horses.
Dr. Jan-Hein Swagemakers – DVM, IVCA/ICVA
Jan-Hein has served as the German jumping team veterinarian since 2009 and is co-founder of the Lüsche Equine Veterinary Clinic. Surgery, pre-purchase exams, orthopedics and sport horse medicine and rehabilitation are among his specialties.
Dr. Tim Worden – PhD
Tim earned his PhD in biomechanics. His focus is applying evidence-based training and management practices to sport horses. He has consulted for Equestrian Canada and works with several FEI riders to provide detailed performance analytics. The co-host of IGNITE’s Sport Horse Podcast, Tim regularly writes and speaks on these topics and seeks out new research – involving equine and human athletes – that can benefit horses.
