He can’t answer phones or sign official business documents, but Riley a rescued orphan foal is credited for creating the cornerstone for the Equi-Spirit Toys business.  The spunky colt had a knack for breaking every play ball ever tossed at him, so Kenny Williams and Lisa Ross-Williams decided to develop a large play ball durable enough for rough horseplay.

Durability of Equi-Spirit Toys is key to keeping foals entertained.

The key to the durability is a heavy-duty pvc-based bladder with an anti-burst additive which is then covered by a tough fabric.  The 25” and 40” balls come in different colors and patterns. In addition to being a lot of fun, the Equi-Spirit balls offer great physical and mental stimulation which equates to improved health and lowered stress.

The Equi-Spirit products popularity has spurred knock-offs, such as one with a soccer ball design which is made in China and does not afford the same durability.  “It’s a shame, but we’ve learned not to waste too much energy on those people, “Lisa Ross-Williams said. “We’d rather be working toward putting energy toward something positive.  I like to use the saying that our balls are imitated but never duplicated”!

Working out of their ranch in Arizona, the couple donates hundreds of ball to charitable organizations including rescues and therapeutic riding programs.
