Two of the horses were shot and killed and a third had been shot and suffered greatly until located by the owner, who had the severely injured horse euthanized.

Sheriff Kenneth Hedrick reported on Tuesday that deputies responded to calls where residents reported that they had found their horses dead on their properties near Lake Concordia.

Two of the horses were shot and killed and a third had been shot and suffered greatly until located by the owner, who had the severely injured horse euthanized.

Sheriff Hedrick said that he is appalled by this act of cruelty and promised that the Sheriff's department will "find, arrest, and prosecute the person or people responsible for these actions."

Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to contact the Sheriff's department.
