As a past contestant of Road to the Horse in 2012, Field was a favorite among Road to the Horse Fans, with the fans taking an instant liking to Field and his gentle way of working with his colt.

Field will join Australian horseman Dan Steers, Swiss horseman Antoine Cloux and a Wild Card contestant who will be determined the morning of the first day of competition.

As a past contestant of Road to the Horse in 2012, Field was a favorite among Road to the Horse Fans. Fans took an instant liking to Field and his gentle way of working with his colt, which demonstrated his deep love and respect of the horse.

Born near Vancouver British Columbia, Jonathan’s early life was filled with horses. As a young man, he showed in both English and Western disciplines before becoming a working cowboy on one of the largest ranches in Canada.

During a short time away from horses, his life was forever changed after a tragic accident on a drilling rig, left four surgeons struggling to reattach his hand at the wrist. This defining moment leveraged the decision to reconnect with his love of horses.

Field dreamed of forming a partnership with the horse, where the horse wanted to be with him, as much as he wanted to be with the horse.

An accomplished international clinician Field now operates two teaching facilities, consults with top horsemen and women in North America, publishes training advice in major magazines and is currently authoring a book to help horse lovers accomplish their dreams.

“I can’t wait to be a part of Road to the Horse 2014 and to meet the 6666 Ranch colt who I can develop a partnership with. It’s an unbelievable opportunity to share my horsemanship and an honor to represent my country,” said Canadian representative Jonathan Field.

Field, Steers and Cloux will be joined by one Wild Card contestant at Road to the Horse 2014. After careful selection, eight talented clinicians across the nation, were invited to take part in the first ever Road to the Horse Wild Card competition.

These eight clinicians travelled to Road to the Horse 2013 where they selected a gelding from the American Quarter Horse Association Remuda from the 6666 Ranch. From Kentucky, the Wild Cards returned home to spend the following year building a partnership with their gelding and continuing their training until Road to the Horse 2014.

In 2014, these 6666 Ranch raised colts will then return to Road to the Horse with their trainers, where they will compete against other Wild Card contestants for the title of Wild Card Champion.

The Wild Card Champion will then immediately step into the Road to the Horse 2014 round pen, where they will have a once in a life opportunity to compete for the World Championship of Colt Starting title. Follow the progress of the Wild Card contestants on Road to the Horse Facebook.
