Certified Master Saddler and Saddle Ergonomist Jochen Schleese was invited to speak in Sao Paulo Brazil this past weekend (Sept. 22-25) at the invitation of Dr. Solange Mikail, coordinator of a rehabilitation course in Equine Physical Therapy in Brazil (http://www.equisports.com.br/english/cursos1_eng.html). The symposium was organized by the oldest veterinary association in Brazil (SPMV) http://www.spmv.org.br) and this year it was the 10th anniversary.
Saddle fitting was one of the most successful topics in the 6th International Symposium on Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy in Veterinary Medicine August, 2010 4-7th in Auburn AL USA last year (as given by Dr. Kerry Ridgway), therefore it was decided to include this topic as the keynote speech for this year’s convention. Jochen Schleese spoke in front of about 25 veterinarians from all over South America – including two who were visiting from Portugal!
A one-hour scheduled interview with Jochen for Revista Magazine (a Brazilian Equestrian publication) turned into five, and his second presentation was attended by massage therapists, chiropractors, and riding club members. The presentations were held at the Sociedade Hípica Paulista, the most traditional riding club in São Paulo with 500 + horses! Veterinarian Gerd Heuschmann (author of ‘Tug of War’ and ‘If Horses Could Speak’) was a previous clinician here.
