Now that the 2017 horse show season is coming to an end, equineseniors.com wants to hear about equine senior horses that successfully competed throughout the year.  It’s part of the website’s “Show Some Love” campaign, which helps to promote the use of horses in the show pen well into their upper senior years.

“We know that there are many senior horses that are still at the top of their game and we want to hear about them,” says Laurie Cerny, editor of www.equineseniors.com. “Our hope is that these stories will help to inspire others to continue to show their senior horses, instead of retiring them.”

Cerny, herself, has successfully shown two Quarter Horses into their upper senior years.  Her current show mare is 17 and has been a top winner on her state’s ABRA, IBHA, and ARHA circuits, as well as at several world shows.

“The show industry is very youth oriented when it comes to horses – especially in halter classes,” Cerny says.  “We hope these stories will help to change that attitude.”

Stories submitted will be featured on the website.  In addition, they will be put into a drawing that includes a “Show Some Love” t-shirt and $100 worth of senior horse products.

To be eligible the senior horse must be 15 years, or older, and entrants must write between 300-500 words – telling about their show season (shows, circuits show, and results). Along with the submission, include a valid email address, and phone number.  In addition, a photo should be emailed in with the submission to equineseniors@aol.com.

Postal submissions will also be accepted and should be mailed to:  Equine Seniors at 70883 39th Street, Paw Paw, MI  49079.

The deadline for submitting stories is January 15, 2018.

www.equineseniors.com is devoted to the care and competition of equine senior horses.   Find more articles and resources on caring for the senior horse, as well as product reviews, at the website.
