According to news reports six horses died when a barn at Dream Land Farms in Dixon, California, caught fire early Friday morning.

Six horses died when a barn at Dream Land Farms in Dixon, California, caught fire early Friday morning, August 31, 2012.

Dixon Fire Chief Aaron McAlister said the two-alarm fire completely destroyed the barn and spread to a second barn, which also suffered damage but was minimally involved.The horses were trapped inside the barn and perished in the fire, said McAlister.

Dream Land Farms is known as a well-fun equestrian center, and the horses that died were riding and jumping horses with some of them reportedly valued at $50,000.

No information was provided on the cause of the fire and the investigation is continuing.
