According to authorities, the stable’s roof had already collapsed by the time firefighters arrived at the fire, which broke out before dawn on Saturday.

Firefighters trained their hoses on the four horses they were able to rescue, although one was receiving treatment for severely burns. Eleven other horses died in the fire.

An investigator told reporters that foul play wasn't suspected
Fire crews were able to rescue four horses that were trapped in one of the buildings,” said Lt. Mitch Weston with the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office.

Officials reported that there were about 40 to 50 horses on the site when the fire broke out.
