The Inland Valley Humane Society has rescued a horse on the brink of starvation that was found tied up in a ditch in Ontario. The horse was tied to a tree, and apparently left to starve to death.

A passer-by saw the horse and notified the Inland Valley Humane Society which rescued the horse. A spokesperson for the Society said that with the cost of hay being high, they are having to rescue more animals this year than in previous years.

The horse has been taken to a rescue for rehabilitation, according to reports.
